Dubbin - What is it, and how do you use it?

What is it?

Dubbin is a type of wax-based leather conditioner that is used to protect and nourish leather footwear, such as boots and shoes.

It is a traditional product that has been used for centuries and is made from a blend of natural waxes and oils. Dubbin is designed to soften stiff leather, prevent cracking, and provide a waterproof barrier to protect against the elements.

It is particularly effective for leather that is exposed to harsh weather conditions, such as rain and snow.

How to use Dubbin

To use Dubbin, first clean and dry your leather item. Then, apply a small amount of the dubbin onto a cloth or sponge and rub evenly into the leather.

It’s important to work the dubbin in well so that it penetrates the leather. Let it sit for a few minutes and then buff the leather with a soft, dry cloth to remove any excess.

The dubbin will help to nourish and moisturize the leather, as well as provide some waterproofing.

It’s commonly used for leather footwear and can also be applied to leather bags, jackets and other leather goods.

It’s recommended that you test the dubbin on a small, inconspicuous area of the leather before using it on the entire item to ensure that it doesn’t cause any discoloration or damage.

What it can’t do!

It can’t repair broken, cracked leather. Use Dubbin to help prevent cracks or slow down the development of cracks before they appear.
